A newly discovered asteroid designated 2019 JK flew past Earth at a distance of 0.69 LD / 0.00178 AU (266 284 km / 165 461 miles) on April 30, 2019.
The object was first observed at Mt. Lemmon Survey, Arizona on May 1, 2019.
2019 JK belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids and has an estimated diameter between 7.1 and 16 m (23.3 – 52.5 feet).
It flew past us at a speed (relative to the Earth) of 17.91 km/s at 08:12 UTC.
