Widespread flooding hit Afghanistan again, at least 5 dead, 17 missing

A new wave of severe weather is affecting 16 of Afghanistan's 34 provinces since April 15, causing widespread flooding, damage and deaths.
Herat Province is currently most affected, particularly its districts of Obey, Kohsan, Karrokh, Shindand and Guzara.
As of 08:00 UTC on April 17, five people lost their lives due to a house collapse in the western Herat Province and 17 people more are missing following a flood in Obey District, DG ECHO reports.
The Kabul River in the country's capital, Kabul, burst its banks and 110 houses have been damaged.
The highway between Herat and Kandahar has been temporarily closed.

Heavy rain is forecast over northern and north-eastern provinces over the next 24 hours and moderate rain over central provinces.
