Floods and landslides claim 13 lives, leave one person missing in Colombia

Several departments of Colombia experienced heavy rainfall over the past two weeks, causing floods and landslides.

The most affected Departments are Antioquia, Nariño, Cauca, Cundinamarca, Huila, Caldas and Caquetá, DG ECHO reports.

According to media reports, as of April 15, 13 people have died, one person is missing, 13 are reported injured and 549 families have been affected.

In addition, 20 houses have been destroyed and 384 damaged.

In Vigía del Fuerte Municipality (Antioquia Department) the floodings have left several communities isolated since April 7.

Heavy rainfall is forecast over western and central departments over the next 24 hours and the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies has issued, a number of alerts for floods and landslides across central, western and southern departments.
