Another powerful tornado hits Antalya, international airport damaged, 12 people injured, Turkey

Just two days after a massive tornado hit parts of the Turkish city of Antalya, claiming lives of two people, another destructive twister formed in the city on January 26, causing damage to the city's international airport and injuring 12 people. This is the fifth and second destructive tornado to hit the city since Wednesday, January 23, 2019.

The tornado caused infrastructural damage, flipped three buses, and damaged two planes and a police helicopter at the city's international airport. At least 12 people were injured, but none of them critically.

Officials said 229 buildings sustained damage in the powerful storms and tornadoes affecting the region since January 23.

Major damage was inflicted to at least 140 transformer stations in Antalya.

Another very large tornado hit the city of Antalya on January 24, 2019, leaving at least 2 people dead and 10 injured. Major damage was reported in Kumluca and Finike districts.

Officials said a 13-year-old girl and a 20-year-old woman have been killed. Ten people were injured.

The tornado damaged many vehicles, agricultural estates and greenhouses. Two people were severely injured, Antalya Governor Münir Karaloğlu said.
