Very Severe Cyclonic Storm "Luban" weakened into a tropical depression just before it made landfall in southeastern Yemen, between Mukalla and Al Ghaidahnear, near the border with Oman on October 14, 2018. This is the 5th named storm of the 2018 North Indian Ocean cyclone season and the first to make landfall in Yemen.

The primary threat from this system is rainfall as it tracks inland. Heavy rain will continue affecting the region on Monday, October 15 with localized impacts lasting into Tuesday, AccuWeather meteorologists said, adding that up to 250 mm (10 inches) of rain is possible in eastern Yemen.

More than 50 mm (2 inches) of rain was expected in parts of Oman – around half a year's worth of rainfall, resulting in dangerous flooding.

Dhofar, on the border with Yemen, received 263 mm (10.35 inches) of rainfall in 24 hours of October 14.

Due to predicted heavy rains accompanied by high winds and wadis overflowing in Dhofar, citizens and residents have been warned against crossing wadis and have been asked to avoid low lying areas.

Some roads were affected in Oman as well as telecommunication lines.
