Asteroid 2018 SC to flyby Earth at 0.70 LD on September 18

A newly discovered asteroid designated 2018 SC will flyby Earth at a distance of 0.70 LD / 0.00180 (296 276 km / 167 320 miles) at 14:46 UTC on September 18, 2018. 

This object belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids and has an estimated diameter between 6.9 and 15 m (22.6 – 49.2 feet). It was first observed at ATLAS-HKO, Haleakala at 13:18 UTC on September 17.

This object is expected to flyby Earth at a speed (relative to the Earth) of 14.03 km/s at 14:46 UTC.

This is now the 49th known asteroid to flyby Earth within 1 lunar distance since the start of the year and the 9th this month.
