Most of South Africa's Western Cape was blanketed in snow over the weekend, causing temporary road closures and providing a new and snowy environment to animals not used to such wintry conditions.

A cold front swept through parts of parts southern South Africa on September 6 and 7, covering most of Western Cape in snow and dropping heavy rain across the country.

Due to snow and slippery conditions, the Department of Transport closed the Lootsberg Pass on the N9 between Middelburg and Graaff-Reinet and the Wapadsberg Pass on the R61 between Cradock and Graaff Reinet in the Eastern Cape. All relevant Emergency Services personnel were on high alert and would continuously monitor the road‚ the department said.

Temperatures in Western Cape dropped so low it resulted in a blanket of snow covering areas in the Matroosberg Reserve, Cederberg and Hex River Mountains. Some snow could still be seen on Sunday, September 9 but most of the ground snow in the Matroosberg area had melted away, CapeTownEtc reports.

  1. The harvest of God in the winter time? Is not good I see! But they should have called on God and not on there own wicked spirits a long time ago, and now this. They sold us into slavery. If we were Africans then we would be called African. But no they call us black people, so God Knows that even they hate his children therefore they will be this way for a long time. While in the land of the North Poles there will be wormth and blessings for soon they will come home. Jeremiah 31:1-2 Act 7:5-7
