Significant cold outbreak affecting Europe, 20 cm (7.9 inches) of fresh snow in Alps, major waterspout outbreak
A significant cold outbreak for this time of year is affecting much of Europe. Nighttime and morning temperatures experienced across the continent are way below average for the end of June and parts of the Alps have received 20 cm (7.9 inches) of fresh snow today, June 25.
After pretty warm and locally hot May, courtesy of omega blocking pattern, Europe experienced 'quite a significant pattern change' last week 'with a deep trough and cold outbreak pushed far south from Scandinavia across east-central Europe and Balkan peninsula.'

20 cm (7.9 inches) of fresh snow was reported at Dachsteingletscher Schladming Ski Resort in Austria on the morning of June 25:
Snowfall was also reported today at Kredarica (elevation 2 514 m / 8 250 feet) in the Julian Alps, NW Slovenia:
June 25 also produced a major waterspout outbreak off the coast of Rimini in northern Italy with well over 10 waterspouts reported during the morning hours:
Europe has experienced several waves of extreme weather outbreaks over the past 2 weeks with millions of lightning strikes (more than 300 000 within 24 hours), destructive flash floods all across the continent, huge hail accumulations and millions of euros worth of damage.
Similar weather is expected through the end of June and into early July with a few more cold outbreaks expected in the first 10 days of July.
