200 homes destroyed, 300 damaged as severe thunderstorm hits Nadia, West Bengal
A severe thunderstorm that swept over east India's West Bengal on May 6, 2018 destroyed about 200 houses and injured at least 7 people.
The storm hit Bengal's Nadia district with a speed of about 90 to 100 km/h (62 mph). Places such as Ranaghat, Henshhkhali and Krishnagar were hit particularly hard.
According to the NDTV, district administration sources said 200 houses collapsed and 300 were partially damaged.
District Magistrate Sumit Gupta said that seven persons were injured in house collapse or by uprooted trees.
