9 killed as landslide hits Lyuliang City of China’s Shanxi Province
At least nine people have been killed after a landslide hit north China's Shanxi Province early Monday, April 30, 2018.
Authorities said the slide happened around 04:57 local time Monday morning in Caijiazhuang village in Lishi District of Lyuliang City.
More than 100 firefighters, rescue workers and medical staff were sent to the scene along with 4 large machines and 5 ambulances.
The search and rescue operations were concluded by early Monday afternoon, Luliang municipal government said.
Although the cause for the landslide has not been confirmed, mountainous Luliang prefecture is known for deadly landslides, especially during heavy rains.
A landslide that hit the same city In 2008 killed 19 people.
