Heavy rainfalls and flash flooding are expected over Torba, Sanma, Penama and Malampa provinces today and continuing tonight, the Vanuatu Meteorological and Geo-hazards department warns. Flooding is also expected over low lying areas and areas close to the river banks, including coastal flooding over the islands in those provinces mentioned.

People are advised to listen to Radio Vanuatu and all other Radio Outlets to get the latest information on this system, VMGD added.

A heavy rain warning is in force for entire Fiji, RSMC Nadi said today.

Periods of heavy rain and squally thunderstorms are forecast for Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Vanua Levu, Western Division, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lomaiviti and Northern Lau Group. Localized heavy rainfall in this region may lead to flooding.

Residents of both countries are invited to follow the evolution of this system and prepare for strong winds, heavy rain and floods.
