Bright fireball over Saint Petersburg, Russia
A bright meteor streaked across the night sky over Saint Petersbug, Russia around 17:17 UTC (20:17 local time) on September 11, 2017 and was observed and recorded by numerous witnesses.
The event lasted up to 7 seconds before the object disintegrated.
According to preliminary data released by astronomers at the Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory near St. Petersburg said the object was a bright meteor that completely burned in the atmosphere.
"Most likely, this was a small asteroid or a larger Perseid meteor," they said, as reported by local media.
