A brief tornado was reported Sunday morning well northwest of San Antonio in Center Point, Texas. Hail as big as golf balls was observed near Buffalo, Texas.

In Winnsboro, Louisiana, one person was injured late Sunday afternoon when a tree fell onto a vehicle. Media reports mention at least 15 damaged structures in the area, including two that were destroyed.

Thunderstorms stalled over parts of Louisiana and western Mississippi, leading to flash flooding in numerous locations and at least two water rescues in Vicksburg, MS.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has 10 preliminary tornado reports for April 2. 9 of them came from Louisiana and one from Texas.

Tornadoes and damaging wind are likely Monday, extending from southern Mississippi northeastward into South Carolina, with greatest tornado risk centered over southern Alabama. Damaging winds, possibly widespread and significant, are anticipated throughout much of the region, NWS warned.

Four school districts in Southern Alabama said they would close Monday in anticipation of the severe weather; Baldwin County Public Schools, Monroe County Public Schools, Mobile County Public Schools and Chickasaw City Schools. Coastal Alabama Community college also said it would be closed and the University of Mobile said it would not open until 18:00.
