A bright meteor fireball with a fiery tail was recorded over Orange, Australia at 08:45 UTC (19:45 AEDT) on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. The footage was taken from a car traveling on the Escort Way near Boree, New South Wales.

President of the Orange Planetarium Inc., Mr. Somerville, said it was difficult to say where it would have landed as meteors travel up to 30 000 km/h (18 600 mph).

"It's deceptive because it looks like it is coming down. If it did land it could be hundreds of kilometers away," he said for Central Western Daily. "That one could have been the size of your fist, they are quite deceptive."

Somerville added he also had a report of what appeared to be space junk southeast of Orange around the same time. "There was a report of seeing two close together, it was very bright with a fiery tail."
