Transhuman: Radical life extension in the quest for immortality

The question is, Do you want to live forever?

In the following short documentary you will learn about the typical worldview of Transhumanists. It is, in my opinion, philosophically and technologically interesting to explore, but ultimately naive and dismissive of the concepts surrounding consciousness and the soul.

Perhaps, the most troubling aspect of Transhumanism not addressed here is that not all of it will be elective. In fact, it might be downright selective. From DNA nanobots to the entire restructuring of the human genome, the corporate state aligned with the medical-military-industrial complex might demand that we are "optimized" and "efficient" in order for us to partake in society at a cost-effective level.

It is a concept that has been espoused by elites before.

For background, please watch Aaron Dykes' wonderful historical review of the Fabian Society and their specific brand of socialism; they are self-professed Wolves in Sheep's Clothing under the design of oligarchical collectivism. As Dykes notes: in the end, it's all totalitarianism. And the endgame is that we will pay for permission to use the Earth, and perhaps even our own bodies.

This is not to deny that science holds amazing wonders for the benefit of humanity, or that we should stop reaching for the stars. However, it's paramount that we always return to the question of who is in control of the technology. If we look at what has happened thus far, science has been hoarded and twisted for the benefit of the few.

Moreover, the vastness of what is being proposed by Transhumanists is worthy of the utmost caution, for the simple fact that we have seen much lesser systems of computation and science being rolled out well before safeguards have been properly tested. So far, the negatives are rapidly outweighing the positives.

Nevertheless, there are some tentative indications that the drastic reduction in cost and the open-source nature of the "new tech" could provide the perfect counterweight that the individual needs to break free from the ever-tightening grip of technocracy. But we have to assert ourselves and take control of our decisions and free will before those who desire control the most will make our decisions for us, while dismissing free will as nothing more than superstition.

Lastly, as noted in the video, the rate of technological development doubles every 18 months. We haven't got long to answer the essential questions of what it means to be human.

There is only one thing certain in life: The future is coming.

  1. From talking to Transhumanist enthusiasts, it seems to me to be a replacement for spirituality by people who have fully bought into the materialist point of view. From my point of view, all the goals of Transhumanism are much better accomplished by death of the physical body. That is the irony, as I see it.

They have a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature of consciousness, and unfortunately, even though consciousness research is beginning to undermine the mind = body model, the damage will have already been done by the time their point of view is falsified definitively. Eventually, it will become clear that consciousness is fundamental to the cosmos and is only associated with the brain temporarily, not caused by it.

People want to be free from suffering, which is understandable. The Buddha made his whole teaching career about that very subject, coming from a very different point of view. They are too drunk on on their techno fetishism to listen to any spiritual masters. It's a materialist/reductionist cult, as I see it. As looney to me as any cult can be.

And yet, because scientific materialism is currently a respected point of view, people will listen to this nonsense and take it seriously. And this does not bode well for the future. The sad fact is that, even if they got their wish and got "uploaded" into a computer, that uploaded information would never be them. It would never be their singular point of view, anymore than a statue made of them would be them.

There is a natural evolution of consciousness, which actually would take us much further than the wildest dreams of Transhumanism. And the pursuit of Transhumanism is actually a synthetic deformation of this natural process. A very seductive developmental dead end. I do sympathize with these people, because they are clearly motivated by a spiritual longing, but they have been bamboozled by the current dominant scientific paradigm.

  2. Only death dies.
The definitions of life in terms of death give way to redefinitions of death in terms of life, As willingness accepts.
The attempt to control life that seems to temporarily succeed is that which 'dies' – never having been true. But within such intensity of conflicted identity is an intent to assert itself true at expense of all honesty. Such is a choice freely made, that can likewise be freely released.

  3. Hmmm….to pay with our own bodies really? Guess men have never created life. …but always carry a tabular rosa…for others thats how takers think. . Un fortunately. . mechanics of the body. . . .

  4. The vibration of this planet will not allow your no.sense to go on any longer. . .do you know what a slimey skin walker is? Thats elitism

music? Talk yo your own organ

  5. Fascinating information! I was certain as a child that I would not die. I have always felt that others can die if they want to, but I want to live and reject the concept of my death! I am very connected to the Earth via growing my food, delivering my own children unassisted at home, and even making my dishes from clay, thereby learning the circle of life lessons directly.. This is of course a Pandora's box philosophically, raising the obvious concerns about human nature. We can not even steward our planet yet, let alone coexist decently upon it, sigh.. If the right people were copied, could they positively impact our planet and consciousness? Based on current analysis of human behavior it seems more likely that the extremely wealthy and self serving will preserve themselves and the World can be Damned! Humans are truly amazing and I have faith in the unsung here in the end though <3 PEACE TO ALL CREATURES MY EARTH CHILDREN, TRY TO REMEMBER THE GOLDEN RULE.. Immortality is a double edged sword at best..
