Third M-class solar flare in last 24 hours – Impulsive M4.2 with Earth directed CME

After two M1.0 solar flares today, AR 1875 treated us with another one. At 21:20 UTC an impulsive solar flare measuring M4.2 erupted. A Type II Radio Emission was registered indicating a Coronal Mass Ejection was associated with the event. AR 1875 is in geoeffective position.

Additionally, a 10cm radio burst was associated with the event. This indicates that the electromagnetic burst associated with a solar flare at the 10cm wavelength was double or greater than the initial 10cm radio background. This can be indicative of significant radio noise in association with a solar flare. This noise is generally short-lived but can cause interference for sensitive receivers including radar, GPS, and satellite communications.
