Kanzelhohe Solar Observatory in Austria captures airplane afront of the Sun
Kanzelhohe Solar Observatory in Austria recorded an interesting image of the Sun on January 12, 2013 at 07:57 UTC. Using Kanzelhoehe H-alpa filters to spot the active regions of the Sun, they captured a plane and contrail flying afront of the Sun as seen from the Earth.
Update: First edit of this article stated that Big Bear Solar Observatory captured this image. Thanks to Peter Gallagher of SolarMonitor.org this mistake was corrected. Kanzelhohe and Big Bear are part of the Global H-alpha Network, which monitors solar flares in near-realtime. Really important it you want to forecast solar storms arrival and their space weather effects at Earth.
Check out their other amazing images of the Sun here.
That image wasn’t taken at Big Bear Solar Observatory by the way. Its from Kanzelhohe Solar Observatory in Austria: http://www.kso.ac.at.

Thank you Peter, much appreciated!
Breathtaking shot!
How to know the impact of CME on specific lat-long of the Earth.
Big deal. Only reminds me how invasive human activity is. There are enough pictures of the planes and the space station in front of the moon, sun and if anyone tried hard enough in front of some planets. I know more than I want about human encroachment and would rather savor pictures without the planes, satellites obscuring the views of planets and sun and the moon.

Did NASA outsource the management of the BBSO ? Why not use USA tax money to support American workers, or, simply shut down this boondoogle.
Sort of crude technology these days, right? Sure to cost a bundle of tax money.
No..no.. this is the start of a campaign to chem trail the Sun with the X37B – this is where a trillion dollars went. “Malevolent Activation” 🙂 lol
