Counter-clockwise storm in the Mediterranean seen from space
NOAA-19 AVHRR satellite sensor captured image of cyclonic, counter-clockwise spin of a low pressure system as it spun over the Mediterranean sea on February 23. This system has brought up to 10.2 centimeters (4 inches) of rain over the 24 hours to coastal areas in Europe and Africa.
NOAA-19 is the last of the POES line of polar-orbiting satellites run by NOAA. Its successor, the Suomi-NPP satellite, was launched late last year and is currently undergoing its check-out phase as the sensors are gradually turned on.
Doc…., I cannot imagine what those guys went through; but this just isn’t Mother Nature.
Wonder what is causing it?
Wouldn’t you hate being in a troop ship in this type storm headed for an opposed landing in Sicily in WW2 ? Thousands of Americans did just that.
