Reports speak of a violent volcanic eruption of Mount Shiveluch on Russia’s Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula. Smoke and ash from the volcano have climbed to 10 kilometres, sparking no-fly warnings for the surrounding area. Snow around the crater is rapidly melting, creating mudslides.  (TASS/VoiceOfRussia)

Explosive-extrusive eruption of the volcano continues. Ash explosions up to 10 km (32,800 ft). ASL could occur at any time. Ongoing activity could affect international and low-flying aircraft.

Moderate seismic activity of the volcano continues. According to seismic data, probably ash plumes rose up to 6.0-7.5 km (19,700-24,600 ft) on October 07-12, and up to 4.5 km (14,760 ft) ASL all week. According to visual data, hot avalanches were observing at the lava dome all week. Ash explosions rose up to 7.0 km (23,000 ft) ASL on October 08; plumes from hot avalanches rose up to 5.0 km (16,400 ft) ASL all week; strong fumarole activity was observing last week. Ash plumes extending about160 km  (99 mi) to the eastern directions from the volcano were noted on October 06 and 08, at the satellite images. A thermal anomaly was noting over the lava dome all week.
