Barrels recovered from Choctaw Creek in Clinton, Arizona did contain a chemical but is not contaminating their water supply. This creek does feed into their county water treatment facility, but the water for the city is safe to drink.

Friday afternoon officials were to test what chemical is in the creek water. Several barrels were marked as “Sta-Foam D.” Others were labeled “ANCO WT-22.” The labels indicate the contents were used as lubricants in natural gas well drilling operations. Two barrels were not marked.

The ADEQ is in contact with the product manufacturer listed on the labels and is now in the process of attempting to identify the responsible party.

Mayor Roger Rory says a fisherman first told him about one barrel two weeks ago. Since then, there have been more barrels reported, culminating in the haz-mat crews fishing them out of the creek Friday morning under the Choctaw Bridge on Highway 65. The crews included officials from the EPA, ADEQ and county officials.

15-20 barrels were pulled from the creek Friday morning which feeds into the water treatment facility. They were found in an area roughly 3 miles of the creek.

Friday afternoon more barrels were found and are being taken out. Rory says he does not believe the barrels were put their on purpose and this could be an accident or related to recent flooding. (TodaysTHV)

An in-depth knowledge of MPFSM chemistry and Managed Pressure Fluid Drilling techniques is required for successful Performance Drilling. This knowledge, and the use of methodologies such as controlling the weight of the drilling fluid through the injection of micro-bubbles of gas into the fluid are crucial elements in making managed pressure drilling practices work to your advantage.

StaFoam™ Fluid System

The StaFoam Fluid System is a highly effective blend of foaming surfactants, shale inhibitors, copolymers, and corrosion inhibitors, developed to adapt to a wide variety of drilling conditions. The StaFoam System is a non-flammable, corrosion inhibitive system that is well suited to the following conditions:

– Mist drilling
– Foam drilling
– Shale drilling
– Drilling in the presence of acid gas and high chlorides

The StaFoam Fluid System can be injected continuously “on-the-fly” or batch treated as conditions warrant.

– StaFoam D – Foaming Agent
– StaBle 900 – Clay Stabilizer
– StaClear 120 – Clay Stabilizer
– Defoam 250 – Defoamer
– StaVis 311 – Viscosifier

Good grief, you should check your facts.

ADEQ = Arkansas Dept. of Environmental Quality. Town of Clinton and Choctaw Creek are in Arkansas. Hwy 65 runs north-south from Minnesota to Louisiana (not in Arizona)!

ADEQ inital testing found no chemicals in the water. Recent massive flooding in Arkansas is likely to have caused barrels to have floated off the well site into the creek, as was stated. Flood waters were just starting to receed in some areas last week enough for people to get in and check their property.
